Other places of interest
For a number of years, Bordeaux city council has been promoting a marriage of culture and heritage, through the renovation of historical sites and their conversion into venues for prestigious cultural events. Today the 19th century Halle des Chartrons market hall building and the salle capitulaire de la Cour Mably (Mably chapter house and courtyard) host numerous exhibitions and concerts, such as Quatuors à Bordeaux – European Chamber Music Meetings and String Quartet Academy. The Espace Saint-Rémi, for its part, is an 11th century church that lends its vaults to the Cinema Science Festival and to the authors of the Bord'Images comic books exhibition. The most recently restored building, the Marché de Lerme, is set to launch its artistic programme in 2011.
