Bordeaux Municipal Library

Inaugurated in 1991, conceived by the architect Bernard Trinqué, the Bibliothèque Municipale de Bordeaux (Bordeaux Municipal Library) is a veritable repository for heritage works, like the exceptional copys (essays) Montaigne’s, and a useful tool for promoting reading, music and images with the public. It comprises the large central Mériadeck library, nine local libraries and one mobile library, the resources of which are freely accessible to the public. Professional librarians are available to guide the public and all the libraries present a varied programme of cultural activities. The Mériadeck library provides two specific spaces, one for the visually challenged (Espace Diderot) and the other for those who wish to supplement their studies (Espace Autoformation).
